CT attorney disbarred for allegations against judge made false claims about other lawyers, documents show - CT Insider

Nickola Cunha, the former Hamden attorney who was disbarred for antisemitic remarks made against a judge is facing discipline for allegations she made against three other attorneys, court documents said.

In one case, Cunha falsely accused an attorney who is a court-appointed guardian ad litem of being a mandated reporter for child abuse, court documents said.

In another case, Cunha alleged that two attorneys had engaged in violating the state’s racketeering laws by conspiring to send psychological evaluations in family court cases to a particular physician, according Leanne Larson, an attorney with the state’s Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel.

Cunha also allegedly sought a continuance for a grievance proceeding regarding the allegations on the grounds she had another court date scheduled that day, Larson said. But Cunha had already had the conflicting court date moved prior to seeking the continuance, Larson said.

The three allegations are violations of the code of ethics for attorneys, Larson contended in a complaint filed May 4 after Cunha was disbarred. Larson wants a court to file “an appropriate order of discipline” that includes charging Cunha for costs and expenses related to the action. The complaint will be heard in New Haven Superior Court on Aug. 16. The Statewide Grievance Committee determined in March that Cunha had committed the violations.
