Danny Elfman Denies 'Meritless' and 'Absurd' Sexual Abuse ... - PEOPLE

Danny Elfman has denied allegations from a woman who accused him of sexual abuse from 1997 to 2002.

In Elfman's response filed on Monday in Los Angeles, the Oscar-nominated composer claimed that the sexual abuse lawsuit in October was "false" and filed with the intention of "embarrassing him" and "extorting settlement money," according to documents obtained by PEOPLE.

In October, a Jane Doe claimed that he groomed and assaulted her when she was a 21-year-old student at the New York Film Academy. She sued him and his company, Musica de la Muerta, for sexual assault, gender violence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, sexual harassment and negligence.

The plaintiff's lawsuit said the composer "removed all of his clothing until he was completely nude and walked around nude in front of Plaintiff, exposing his genitals.”

The plaintiff claimed Elfman exposed himself every time they’d see each other after that and he slept naked next to her while she was fully clothed. She added in the suit that she “felt uncomfortable but did not say anything because she did not want to risk losing [Elfman] as a friend and mentor, given what she perceived to be a very lucky position she was in, as a consultant for his work and protégé.”

She claimed that their friendship ended after Elfman told her in 2002: "Every time you have ever slept next to me, I would masturbate next to you."
