In an attempt to turn its defeat into a false victory, Pakistan made several exaggerated claims — one being that it had shot down five Indian fighter jets, including three Rafale aircraft. However, Dassault Aviation CEO Eric Trappier has dismissed Pakistan’s claim, calling them ‘inaccurate’.
Ahead of the Paris Air Show, speaking to a French magazine, Trappier said, “The Indians haven’t communicated, so we don’t know exactly what happened. What we already know is that what the Pakistanis are saying is inaccurate.”
According to Trappier, while Rafale has certain limitations compared to stealth jets like the F-22, it is significantly more versatile and combat-ready than the F-35. He emphasised that Rafale’s capabilities far exceed those of the fighter planes available to China — and Pakistan is simply not capable of shooting it down.
As a retaliatory move following the Pahalgam attack, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist hideouts inside Pakistan.
During the operation in May 2025, Islamabad had claimed that it shot down six Indian aircraft.
