School administrators and law enforcement responded and locked down both school campuses.

Officials then initiated an investigation and it was determined that this was a false claim.

The students are believed to have made this false claim to divert attention away from one of the students in the reporting group who had brought an airsoft pistol to school.

There was no evidence that the student had plans to do any harm with the airsoft pistol and that they had not threatened anyone.

Davidson County Schools released a statement saying that they "will not tolerate behavior that causes fear in others, places other sin harm's way, and interrupts the learning environment."

Law enforcement will continuing investigating this incident and will administer appropriate consequence and charges.
