Delta refutes false claims about the crew of Endeavor Air Flight 4819 - Aviation.Direct

On February 17, 2025, passengers on Endeavor Air Flight 4819 experienced a terrifying situation when their plane landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport in a dramatic incident after a failed approach. The flight, operated by Endeavor Air, a subsidiary of Delta Air Lines, was en route from Klagenfurt to Toronto. Although all 80 passengers on the regional jet survived, 21 passengers were injured. Since then, the incident has been under intensive investigation, while speculation about the qualifications of the flight crew has circulated on social media.

Amid growing rumors and unconfirmed social media coverage about the flight crew's qualifications, Delta Air Lines felt compelled to publicly address these false claims. The company, in an official statement on February 20, 2025, refuted all claims that the captain and first officer were inadequately trained or qualified in any way. The airline stated that such allegations were in no way true.

According to Delta, the captain was hired in 2007 by what was then known as Mesaba Airlines, which later merged with Endeavor Air. Since then, the captain has worked as a pilot as well as in various safety and training roles. Delta clarified that there was no evidence of failed training exams and also strongly refuted the claim that the captain's transition to a pilot position with Delta Air Lines was hampered by failed training.
