EEOC Must Better Track Bias Charge Intake Timing, Watchdog Says - Bloomberg Law

The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission needs to begin tracking how long it’s taking to complete the charge intake process, according to a new Government Accountability Office report.

On average the EEOC took 69 days to complete the process for a discrimination claim in fiscal year 2021, the federal watchdog found in the report published Monday, suggesting the workplace civil rights agency begin closely following field office-level data on the length of the intake process.

A worker who believes they were discriminated against files an intake form with the EEOC and eventually is interviewed, then a charge is filed. ...
