Eoghan McDermott To Return To Love Island After False Allegations - Extra.ie

Former RTE star Eoghan McDermott is returning to screens two years after a slew of unfounded sexual misconduct allegations were made about him.

The presenter will narrate the new series of Love Island Australia after he was replaced for a single season by Irish comedian Stephen Mullan.

Mr McDermott had voiced two seasons of the hit Australian show before being replaced.

A spokesperson for Love Island Australia told Independent.ie that Mr McDermott would be back narrating the new series of the hit show.

'Eoghan will be narrating this year's upcoming season of Love Island Australia.'

On the 9Now official Love Island website, the news was also confirmed.

'Aussie sweetheart Sophie Monk is back as host as Love Island's own Cupid, alongside the narrator, Irish presenter Eoghan McDermott, who you may remember from Season 1 and 2,' it stated in advance publicity.

In February 2021, Mr McDermott left his 2FM breakfast show abruptly and no official reason was immediately given for his departure. He had worked for 2FM for over six years.

In March 2022, the presenter broke his silence for the first time since the false claims were posted by an anonymous user on the social media platform in March, 2021.

In March 2022, it was also revealed that Mr McDermott was suing Twitter for defamation.
