ERIE, Pa. —
Haley Potter, 24, a Kiski Area High School graduate and reporter for Erie News Now, is charged with making false claims to police that she had been the victim of ongoing stalking and harassment.
Potter was arraigned Monday in Erie County on multiple charges including several felony counts.
State police said Potter claimed that starting in February she began receiving text messages which eventually led to phone calls and voicemails.
Police said that Potter claimed the text messages showed the sender had extensive knowledge of her whereabouts at all times.
Police said Potter eventually received a handwritten note that was slid under her apartment door and received flowers at Erie News Now.
Police said Potter related that she was concerned because she was employed as a public figure and could possibly be in danger.
Investigators said their investigation showed Potter was responsible for all of the messages and stalked activity that she had claimed to be the victim of.
Potter is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on July 28.
