Fact Check-Footage from film production resurfaces false claims the ... - Reuters

Posts making these claims can be seen (here), (tinyurl.com/ycxybuz4), (tinyurl.com/36a7vyun).

Some users seemingly believe these rumors (tinyurl.com/mreua8vu), while others pointed out the video was taken from a film (tinyurl.com/yhr37xwd).

A keyword search led to an article by Baltic News about a Ukrainian film shot in Latvia (here). The report says it is based on the story of a woman who gave birth during the war after losing her parents and partner.

Latvian channel RUS.LSM also reported on the film (here). It shared backstage footage from the production on their YouTube channel (here), which shows different angles of scenes in the miscaptioned video circulating online.

One example is an explosion that takes place around timestamp 0:16 in the clip circulating online and 0:36 in the YouTube video. It shows the same cameraman taking a step forward as a bomb detonates.

A search for Artem Kocharian, named as the film’s director in both the news reports, led to his TikTok account (here). Part of the original clip was posted on his profile with hashtags including “cinema” and “backstage” (here).

Kocharian did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Claims the war in Ukraine is “staged” are false. Reuters photos and videos from this past week can be seen (here), (here), (here).

Reuters has previously debunked similar claims involving the war in Ukraine (here), (here), (here).
