Fact Check: Greenville Water addresses claims of high levels of contaminants - FOX Carolina

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Greenville Water said it has been made aware of scammers going door-to-door throughout the Upstate, claiming that high levels of contaminants have been found in customers’ water.

Officials said these claims are false.

The scammers are accused of using these false claims to get access to homes to “test” the water.

If you encounter these individuals, do not provide personal information and do not allow them into your home.

“Please know that Greenville Water takes your safety seriously,“ said the company. ”If our teams are on a project in your area, they will be in uniform, with a clearly identifiable badge. In these instances, you can always call our customer service line to verify their presence.”

Officials mentioned that law enforcement has been notified.
