U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made myriad false and misleading claims on Thursday as he fielded questions examining his seven-month tenure leading the nation's health agencies at a contentious three-hour hearing.

Kennedy ignored government data, twisted legislation and pointed to unsubstantiated treatments while addressing topics such as COVID-19 vaccines, rural hospitals and school shootings.

Micah Parsons hopes to make his debut for the Green Bay Packers when they host the division rival Detroit Lions on Sunday. The Packers acquired the two-time All-Pro edge rusher in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys. It's not certain that Parsons will play because he's been limited in practice by a back issue. For the Lions, All-Pro pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson will be back on the field after last season ended prematurely with a broken leg. The NFC North rivals enter the season with legitimate Super Bowl aspirations. Detroit had to replace both coordinators, who left for head coaching jobs.

Browns All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett did not practice on Thursday because of a hip injury. This leaves his status for Cleveland's season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday uncertain. Garrett was not listed on Wednesday's injury report.
