COLUMBUS, Ohio — Fourteen med spas across the state are getting warning letters from Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost.
According to Yost, these spas are offering clients compounded versions of popular weight loss drugs and claiming the custom-blends are "FDA-approved" or "just as safe" as brand name versions.
“People deserve clear and accurate information about the medications they’re putting in their bodies. We’re reminding businesses that being truthful isn’t just a good business practice — it’s the law," said Yost in a release.
The following businesses were identified by the AG's office:
10TV found that four of these med spas have locations in Columbus, Dublin and Chillicothe. They are denoted above with an asterisk.
In March, 10TV reported that Jiva Med Spa in the Grandview Heights area had its license to handle certain drugs "summarily suspended" by the state pharmacy board for this very behavior.
