Fired Black PNC Employee to Get Trial on Race Bias Claim - Bloomberg Law

A jury must decide whether PNC Bank fired a Black customer service employee for poor performance or because of race, a federal judge in Pennsylvania said.

Marchele Andrews was hired in 2010 and fired in 2016. Andrews sued, alleging PNC Bank NA violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The bank “produced ample evidence” that it terminated Andrews after several years of performance issues, written and verbal warnings, and coaching by her supervisors, the US District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania said Thursday.
