JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 10 — Five individuals, including three civil servants, have been remanded for six days over allegations of conspiring to submit falsified documents to obtain RM400,000 in payments from a statutory body.
Magistrate Rahimah Abd Majid issued the remand order against the woman and four men, aged between 30 and 60, at the Segamat Sessions Court today following an application by Johor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigators.
Johor MACC director Hairuzam Mohmad Amin@Hamim confirmed the remand when contacted.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009, which relates to the intention to deceive through false claims.
The suspects — a company owner, a manager and three civil servants — were arrested separately when they came to give their statements at the Segamat MACC office between 11am and 2pm yesterday.
Preliminary investigations showed the five allegedly conspired to certify and submit documents containing false details on a supply of heifers to a statutory body in Johor worth RM400,000, despite no delivery being made.
Earlier reports stated the offence was committed in February 2023, and involved RM200,000.
