The Florida Fourth District Court of Appeals has ruled that, because there are currently no open positions in the school district, a former vice principal who brought a whistleblower suit is entitled to “front pay” as an alternative to reinstatement.
The Palm Beach County School Board had appealed a jury verdict in favor of Gary Groover, a vice principal who alleges he was dismissed after he participated in an investigation by the School Board’s Office of inspector General. Groover, meanwhile, had appealed a post-trial order which denied his request for either reinstatement or five years of front pay.
