Officials are calling the 2026 National Health Care Fraud Takedown announced Tuesday, June 23, which snared 455 defendants in 45 U.S. states and territories, the biggest in U.S. history. It involves more than $6.5 billion in health care fraud, the majority it Medicare and Medicaid, and significant harm including a student’s death after a doctor fraudulently executed a cardiovascular test that cleared the student to play.
