BEARDSTOWN – A free workshop to help small-business owners navigate a multitude of changes in laws relating to human resources and employment has been scheduled in Beardstown.
The seminar, hosted by the Beardstown Chamber of Commerce, will be from 4-6 p.m. April 20 at the Beardstown Elks Club, 205 E. 2nd St. The event is sponsored by Beardstown Savings and Mount Sterling Savings.
An overview of changes in federal and state laws governing employment will be led by Elaine Hand of Innerview LCC. Hand is a human resources consultant who presents workshops for the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and the Community Bankers Association.
Among the topics to be covered include new minimums for exempt employees under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, mandatory harassment training and new minimum wage requirements.
