LITTLE NECK, N.Y. (TND) — Embattled Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., and his campaign reportedly enjoy Italian food so much that they collectively spent over $26,000 at one restaurant in Queens.
Santos has dominated headlines recently after making several false claims about his background. He has already admitted to lying about his college education, job experience and campaign finance disclosures.
It now looks like a good amount of his campaign funds were spent at one particular Italian restaurant.
Updated financial disclosure documents from the Santos campaign show that his team spent an incredible $26,032.06 at Il Bacco Ristorante Italiano in Little Neck, N.Y., according to Business Insider.
While it's not immediately clear exactly what was bought and when, the prices of menu items on the restaurant's website aren't incredibly expensive.
For example, a "Penne Vodka" entree, one of the cheapest options, is listed as being $21, and the most expensive entree option is a $38 "Seafood Risotto."
Wine is also offered at the restaurant, but the most expensive bottle, outside of a $285 bottle of Dom Perignon, is a $160 bottle of "Caymus California" cabernet. The rest of the wine bottles range in price from $40 to $60, with a few more expensive options landing closer to $100.
Napkin math reveals that if Santos's campaign spent all of that money on only Penne Vodka dishes, they'd have ordered about 1,240 plates of the entree.
