How to Get Your Product Certified as "Made in the US" - ThomasNet News

As consumer interest in locally-made products continues to rise and supply chain holdups disrupt business operations, many businesses may want to know how to get their product certified as American-made. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) compiled a 40-page document outlining the process, which we have broken down here.

In January 2021, President Biden signed a Made in America executive order. This order was created to support American-owned businesses by investing taxpayer dollars to boost economic growth and create new jobs.

Option 1: Verified

If your company is based in the U.S. and meets the accreditation criteria, you may apply for the Verified Made in USA Brand Certification Mark.

Option 2: Self-Certified

To use the Self-Certified Made in USA Brand Certification Mark, businesses must fulfill the accreditation standards, adhere to all conditions of the Certification Mark Agreement, and comply with all federal and state laws.

Accreditation Standards

To be authorized to use the Verified or Self-Certified Made in the U.S. Certification Mark, your organization meets all the following accreditation standards:
