Hudson, N.H. woman indicted for Medicaid fraud - Lowell Sun

HUDSON, N.H. — A Hudson woman was indicted for Medicaid fraud for allegedly submitting fraudulent claims resulting in the theft of nearly $9,000.

On Wednesday, a Merrimack County Grand Jury indicted Stacey Hayes, 49, on charges of theft by deception, Medicaid fraud (false claims), and Medicaid fraud (false records), according to a press release from New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella’s office.

The release states between Sept. 1, 2020 and Sept. 30, 2021, Hayes allegedly created false records documenting expenses for Medicaid services, which led to false claims for payment of Medicaid services to be filed. The release states this resulted in Hayes fraudulently obtaining more than $1,500 in Medicaid funds.

Also during that timeframe, the release claims Hayes submitted fraudulent mileage reimbursement forms for 337 nonemergency medical appointments that did not exist. This allegedly resulted in Hayes receiving $7,232.18 for the reimbursement of mileage expenses that she did not incur.

Hayes is scheduled to appear in Merrimack County Superior Court at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 27.

According to the release, the maximum penalty for theft by deception, a Class A felony, is seven and a half to 15 years in prison. The maximum penalty for the false claims and false records charges, which are both Class B felonies, are three and a half to seven years in prison.
