India launched a blistering critique of Pakistan at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, calling it a “failed state” that relies on international handouts while perpetuating falsehoods dictated by its military establishment.
Reported by NDTV, the remarks were delivered by Kshitij Tyagi, representing India’s Permanent Mission to the UN, in response to Pakistan’s Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar’s allegations of human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
Tyagi dismissed Pakistan’s rhetoric as hypocritical and accused its leadership of wasting the Council’s time with baseless claims.
He asserted, "It is regrettable to see Pakistan's leaders and delegates continuing to spread falsehoods handed down by its military terrorist complex. Pakistan is making a mockery of the OIC by abusing it as its mouthpiece. It is unfortunate that this Council's time continues to be wasted by a failed state which thrives on instability and survives on international handouts. Its rhetoric reeks of hypocrisy, its actions of inhumanity and its governance of incompetence. India remains focused on democracy, progress and ensuring dignity for its people. Values that Pakistan would do well to learn from."
Further reinforcing India’s stance, Tyagi reiterated that J&K and Ladakh are “integral and inalienable” parts of India, highlighting the significant progress and stability in these regions in contrast to Pakistan’s narrative of unrest.
