Indiana Health Network Resolves Alleged False Claim Violations - Bloomberg Law

Community Health Network Inc. has agreed to pay $345 million to resolve allegations of submitting claims to Medicare for services that were referred in violation of the Stark Law, the Justice Department said Tuesday.

Community allegedly paid its cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, vascular surgeons, neurosurgeons, and breast surgeons above fair market value. The health network also allegedly awarded physicians bonuses that were tied to the number of their referrals and then submitted claims to Medicare for the resulting services, according to the DOJ.
