DES MOINES, Iowa —
Gov. Kim Reynolds signed the final bills of her career into law on Tuesday.
One of the laws requires the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners to check a job candidate's legal work status. It also mandates state agencies and boards to use E-Verify and other databases for employment background checks.
The new law comes as former Des Moines Public Schools Superintendent Ian Roberts begins a two-year sentence for federal employment fraud and gun charges.
