Iraq’s embassy in Moscow warns against false visa claims, recruitment schemes - 964media

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s embassy in Moscow on Friday warned Iraqis in Russia against false claims of community representation and fake entry visas, stressing that only Russian diplomatic missions are authorized to issue visas.

“The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Moscow would like to clarify to the Iraqi community residing in the Russian Federation that what has been circulated on some social media platforms by a person falsely claiming to represent the Iraqi community in Russia is a baseless allegation with no truth,” the embassy said in a statement.

It added, “The only authority authorized to issue entry visas to Russian territory is the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Baghdad and its consulates in Erbil and Basra exclusively.”

The embassy said there is “no officially authorized representative of the Iraqi community in the Russian Federation, neither from the Iraqi side nor the Russian side,” and warned citizens not to be deceived. It also reaffirmed Iraq’s “firm neutral stance regarding the Russian–Ukrainian crisis, and its constant call to adopt peaceful solutions and end the conflict through dialogue.”

It cautioned against efforts to lure Iraqis into Russia’s war, stressing its “categorical rejection of such practices” and urging the community “not to be drawn into these misleading methods.”
