Chief Deputy Brandon Bryan was accused of selling seized vehicles from an evidence warehouse to unauthorized buyers.
BARDSTOWN, Ky. — A Nelson County judge has approved the plea change for chief sheriff's deputy Brandon Bryan.
Bryan was originally charged with abuse of public trust, two counts of theft by deception, two counts of forgery, one count of official misconduct and two misdemeanors in March. His charges stemmed from a whistleblower complaint filed by two detectives who accused him of illegally selling seized vehicles from an evidence warehouse to unauthorized buyers.
According to court documents released Tuesday, Bryan was in court on Sept. 19 to accept a plea agreement and change his not guilty plea.
As part of the agreement, Bryan plead guilty to third-degree forgery and two misdemeanors unrelated to theft.
Bryan faces no jail time but must pay fines for his charges.
In September, Bryan's attorney, Michael Niemietz, told WHAS11 the chief deputy "chose to accept responsibility for the errors and to pay fines rather than put his family and the community through what would have been a very expensive and emotionally taxing trial."
Nelson County Sheriff Ramon Pineiroa was also indicted as part of the original complaint, however prosecutors agreed to dismiss his case in September.
