Lawyers for billionaire George Soros must show cause as to why the philanthropist should be allowed to ignore subpoenas from Fox as part of the ongoing litigation in Smartmatic’s $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit against the media company, a judge has ruled.
Manhattan Supreme Court Justice David B. Cohen on Tuesday issued the order, instructing non-parties Soros, his son Alexander and their private funding foundation Open Society Foundations to show why they should be compelled to comply with the subpoenas from Fox News Network LLC, and Fox hosts Lou Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo and Jeanine Pirro.
