Judge orders DC mayor to sit for deposition in whistleblower lawsuit of former OUC leader - WJLA

WASHINGTON (7News) — A judge ruled that Mayor Muriel Bowser must sit for a deposition of up to seven hours as part of a whistleblower lawsuit involving a former Interim Director of the Office of Unified Communications (OUC) -- the city's 911 call center.

Mayor Bowser's decision to terminate the former leader of the city's 911 call center is being questioned, and she's being asked to come forward to provide “information that no other source could provide since only [she] can testify to [her] own motives," according to court documents.

EXCLUSIVE: Former head of DC's 911 call center alleging fraud, abuse in lawsuit

This comes after a former interim OUC leader alleged that she made several protected disclosures about serious problems at the call center, and believes she was denied a promotion as the official director and removed from the position entirely, and "terminated" due to those disclosures.

According to court documents, the former Interim Director of OUC believes Mayor Bowser made the decision not to name her to the permanent position because the mayor was made aware of the interim director's disclosures and told others. But the city claims the mayor's decision to terminate the former OUC leader was for legitimate reasons that had nothing to do with the protected disclosures.
