Kansas City Manager Brian Platt suspended after whistleblower lawsuit - Yahoo

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The city manager for Kansas City, Missouri is off the job one day after the city lost a whistleblower lawsuit.

In a memo from Mayor Quinton Lucas on Thursday, the mayor said he suspended Brian Platt with pay.

Lucas did not provide a reason.

The city council will take it up formally on March 20.

On Wednesday, former city communications directors Chris Hernandez won his lawsuit against the city, in which he alleged Platt declared it was OK to lie to the media. Their disagreement was over a road resurfacing project.

Hernandez was a TV news reporter in Kansas City before working for the city.
