Police say 36-year-old Brandy Brackeen made a GoFundMe account after falsely claiming his child died in a car crash.
KYLE, Texas — Kyle police are searching for a man who they say created a fake fundraiser claiming his child died after a car crash.
In a social media post shared Monday, the Kyle Police Department said it is seeking the public's help finding 36-year-old Brandy Brackeen following a "crowdfunding fraud scheme."
Law enforcement said Brackeen created a GoFundMe account seeking donations after making false claims that his child died after a crash.
It's unclear how much money was collected in the fundraiser or how long it was in use. Limited details are available at this time.
"As a reminder, we encourage our community to always verify the legitimacy of crowdfunding campaigns before making any monetary contributions," Kyle police said in the post.
Anyone with details on Brackeen's location is asked to reach out to Kyle Police Department Detective Call at [email protected].
