Lake Superior College faces third whistleblower lawsuit - Duluth News Tribune

DULUTH — Lake Superior College has been slapped with its third whistleblower lawsuit since 2023.

A former employee is suing LSC and the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, alleging retaliation after concerns were raised about the school's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

This is the third case to be brought against the college in the last two years by the Minneapolis-based law firm Storms Dworak LLC, based on claims that LSC violated Minnesota's whistleblower law.

“It really is shining a light on a very unfortunate pattern,” said Naomi Martin, an attorney with Storms Dworak. “Employees of LSC have raised concerns, and it looks like the response is, instead of addressing the concerns head-on, there looks to be a focus on quieting those voices.”

On May 9, Storms Dworak filed against LSC on behalf of Timothy Luedtke, who worked as a support technician at the college from 2018 to 2020. According to court documents, Luedtke claims he was terminated by the college after he reported unsafe COVID conditions on campus and advocated for stronger safety protections for himself and his co-workers during the pandemic.
