LANSDALE — A federal civil rights lawsuit has been filed against Lansdale Borough and its police department stemming from a years-long dispute between two neighbors on Shaw Avenue.
The lawsuit, filed in early April by now-former resident Theresa Laws, alleges that neighbor Scott Gribling, several borough police officers, and employees of the town’s code and public works departments have violated her civil rights in their handling of a series of neighbor disputes that date back over a decade.
“Plaintiff brings this civil rights action for a deprivation of her fundamental right under the 1st, 4th and 14th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution, and for state-related torts of false arrest and malicious prosecution,” reads the complaint, first reported by North Penn Now and obtained by The Reporter.
The suit claims “a continuous, repeated and ongoing pattern of falsely accusing plaintiff of crimes, such as criminal harassment and mischief,” and requests a jury trial, compensatory damages “in excess of $150,000,” and “if appropriate, punitive damages against defendants.”
In the suit, filed on behalf of Laws by Philadelphia-based attorney Lucas T.
