Lee Mack: Why the 1% Club host had to shut down false claims about his wife - Wales Online

Lee Mack has shut down claims his wife only married him after he ‘became a comedian and got a bit of money'. The 53-year old who has starred in popular TV show's such as Would I lie to you?, Not going out and The Sketch Show has known his wife for many years after first meeting during their university days.

The actor, comedian and presenter married his wife, Tara back in 2005, but he has joked that people assume his other half was only attracted to him because of his fame and success.

One fellow comedian's sister even asked if Lee had to do something heroic to save her life in order to convince her to go out with him, Lee once revealed.

According to the Express, speaking on a podcast last year, Lee said: “We talked the other day with Roisin Conaty.

"Her sister met Tara and said 'I assume you two have been together after you became a comedian and a bit of money.' And I said 'no, no, we met before I ever was a comedian when we were at university.'

"And she looked aghast at why this woman would be with me. I thought that's an incredibly bold statement to make after five minutes of meeting someone."

Lee and Tara have three children, Arlie, Louie, and Millie. The comedian normally prefers to keep his family life out of the spotlight, however he did open up about life as a dad in 2017 while talking to the Radio Times.
