A roundup of recent legal industry news from the Philadelphia area:
Goodwin Procter, which entered Philadelphia through the addition of 18 partners from Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders earlier this year, has quietly been filling out the office with associates.
According to the firm’s website, it has added nine Troutman Pepper associates in Philadelphia alone. The newcomers include six associates in the firm’s life sciences transactional practice and three lawyers focused on private equity deals. The firm has also added counsel Yale Howard Bohn, also from Troutman Pepper. There could be more non-partners from Troutman Pepper that were recruited to other Goodwin offices but the firm declined to confirm a specific number, most likely because the situation is still fluid.
Boston-rooted Goodwin, which has more than 1,800 lawyers in the U.S., Europe and Asia, first added 14 partners from Troutman Pepper in late January. That group includes 10 partners from Philadelphia, led by former Troutman Pepper vice chairman and white collar criminal defense lawyer Thomas Gallagher, health sciences department chair Rachael Bushey, and health care transactions and regulatory practices chair John Jones. In February, four more Troutman Pepper lawyers made the move to Goodwin, including two in Philadelphia.
