MACC nabs plantation manager for allegedly submitting RM60,000 in false claims - New Straits Times

BINTULU: A plantation manager has been arrested on suspicion of submitting false claims amounting to RM60,000 to a leading plantation company in 2021.

The suspect, 41, was arrested when he was summoned to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) office here to have his statement recorded about 3pm yesterday.

Sources said the suspect was believed to have colluded with a manager of another company when submitting the false claims with the prominent plantation company about two years ago.

"The suspect had allegedly made the false claims for the rental of equipment used to repair plantation roads although the services did not exist or were not implemented," the sources said.

The suspect was remanded for six days until Sunday when he was produced before magistrate Salina Sahrom at the magistrate's court here this morning.

Sarawak MACC director Mohd Zaki Hassan, when contacted, confirmed the arrest and said the case was being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
