Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian-American activist and recent Columbia University graduate, has filed a USD 20 million claim against the Trump administration, alleging wrongful imprisonment, malicious prosecution, and political retaliation for his pro-Palestinian activism.
The claim, filed under the Federal Tort Claims Act, names the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the State Department.
Khalil's legal team argues that his arrest and detention were part of a broader campaign to silence dissent and criminalise support for Palestinian rights. Khalil sued the Trump Administration for USD 20 million, citing false imprisonment.
Now free after more than three months in detention, Khalil is fighting back. "I can't describe the pain of that night," he said softly. "It's something I will never forgive."
