WASHINGTON (7News) — Several new laws and regulations are going into effect July 1 in the D.C., Maryland and Virginia area. 7News has your guide for all the new changes.
WASHINGTON, D.C.
Minimum wage: The living wage for the District is increasing from $16.50 to $17. The increase is due to an amendment that ties D.C.’s minimum wage to the Consumer Price Index to better match inflation, according to the Department of Employment Services.
VIRGINIA
Hemp regulation: Hemp products may not exceed .03% of THC content and no more than two milligrams of total THC per package unless there is a twenty-five to one CBD to THC ratio according to the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. For additional new hemp regulations click here.
Online porn age restriction: Porn sites must now require user to upload some form of identification for their age to use the website, according to Senate Bill 1515. “The governor remains committed to protecting Virginia’s children from dangerous material on the internet,” said Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s spokeswoman Macaulay Porter.
