Mexican National Pleads Guilty to Illegal Voting and False Citizenship Claims in Kansas - nepyork

A Mexican national has pleaded guilty in Kansas to charges related to illegal voting and falsely claiming U.S. citizenship, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Jose “Joe” Ceballos-Armendariz pleaded guilty to three counts of disorderly election conduct following a prosecution by the Kansas Attorney General’s Office. Authorities said he unlawfully voted multiple times and falsely indicated on voter registration forms that he was a U.S. citizen.

Officials also said Ceballos later stated on a U.S. citizenship application filed in February 2025 that he had not previously claimed to be a citizen, which they said was untrue.

Ceballos, who was granted lawful permanent resident status in 1990, has a prior criminal conviction for battery in 1995, according to DHS.

In a statement, Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said the case underscores the importance of election integrity measures, including the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program, which allows state and local governments to verify citizenship status.

DHS said that since April 2025, more than 24,000 cases of potential noncitizens on voter rolls have been identified through SAVE and referred for further investigation. The agency added that more than 60 million voter...
