‘Money-Minting Mafia Took Over Delhi Gymkhana’: Whistleblower's Explosive Claims | Exclusive - News18

Whistleblower Niji Sapra alleges Delhi Gymkhana Club retaliated after she exposed MCA guideline violations.

A former board member of the Delhi Gymkhana Club and whistleblower against its previous management, Niji Sapra, has alleged that she faced suspension and loss of membership after exposing alleged violations of Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) guidelines and financial irregularities within the elite club.

In an exclusive conversation with CNN-News18, Sapra said she raised concerns against the previous board, accusing it of running the club in violation of MCA norms. Following her complaints, she was suspended for a year and later lost her membership, despite being a lawfully elected board member.

Sapra alleged that influential groups within the club had “systematically committed financial frauds" and turned the institution into an “elite mafia ecosystem to mint crores of money." She also claimed that while ordinary applicants wait decades for membership, some connected individuals secure memberships for their future generations without delay.

The allegations come amid heightened scrutiny of the club after the Centre ordered it to vacate its 27.3-acre premises in Lutyens’ Delhi by June 5, citing national security and defence infrastructure requirements. The club has challenged the order before the Delhi High Court.
