Montgomery County minimum wage will increase for large employers in July - WJLA

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (7News) — The minimum wage in Montgomery County, Md. will increase on July 1 to $16.70 for large employers, according to the Mongomery County government.

The minimum wage raises incrementally every July 1, per the legislation signed by County Executive Marc Elrich in 2017.

The Montgomery County government adjusted the rate for large employers, those with 51 employees or more, based on the Consumer Price Index for all urban wage earners and clerical workers within D.C., Arlington and Alexandria in Virginia.

After hitting the $15 minimum wage rate in 2021, the law requires the chief administrative officer to adjust the rate each year based on the previous calendar year.

Starting July 1, the rate for mid-sized employers (11-50 employees) will be $15 per hour, and the rate for small employers (less than 10 employees) will be $14.50 per hour.
