U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley released more details from whistleblowers regarding the July 13 assassination attempt of former president Donald Trump in Butler.
That report claims whistleblowers from the Secret Service and local law enforcement agencies have come forward. Senator Hawley has been sharing these allegations with the acting director of the Secret Service and DHS in a series of letters since the July 13 rally. He released a report on Monday offering more allegations.
The report, released Monday offered new claims, including allegations that the lead agent for the Butler rally previously failed a key examination during their training to become a secret service agent.
The report also points to poor security at the hospital where Trump received treatment. Additionally, it claims “secret service intelligence units” were absent from the rally. The report defines those units as “teams of secret service agents paired with state and local law enforcement to handle reports of suspicious persons.”
The report also detailed previous reports of local law enforcement officers’ actions that day, as they encountered the gunman on the roof. One officer was allegedly hoisted up by the other, but when the gunman allegedly pointed his gun at the officer, they fell 8 feet. Moments later, the report said the gunman began firing.
Butler Township Manager Tom Knights said his report backs up what his officers recounted from that day.
