A false rumor has been spreading on social media claiming that Namibia’s new President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, ordered the deportation of more than 500 American citizens. These posts went viral, sparking confusion and political debate online. However, the Namibian government has strongly denied the story, calling it fake and misleading.
The viral posts included made-up quotes, suggesting that President Nandi-Ndaitwah wanted to impose visa restrictions on Americans as a form of retaliation. One widely shared quote claimed she said, "If Africans need visas to enter the U.S., then Americans must also need visas to enter Namibia." This led to speculation about a mass deportation as a protest against U.S. immigration policy.
