Narrow High Court Decision Finds Whistleblower Payments Are Subject to Pa. Taxes | The Legal Intelligencer - Law.com

A split state Supreme Court has determined that the money a whistleblower gains from filing a qui tam action is taxable in Pennsylvania under the state Tax Reform Code.

In Monday’s 4-3 ruling, the majority opinion found that qui tam awards count as compensation under Section 303 of the Tax Reform Code and can be taxed accordingly.
