Nate Monroe: Amid controversy with Jacksonville inspector general, time to consider reform - The Florida Times-Union

COMMENTARY | Jacksonville City Hall attorneys disclosed to an oversight committee this past week the current inspector general, Lisa Green, now faces an additional two whistleblower complaints over her management of the office responsible for investigating municipal waste, fraud and abuse — bringing the total number of complaints against her to four.

Only the identity of a single complainant, Andrew MacFarlane, the office's director of investigations, has been disclosed because he waived his right to confidentiality, and because the Times-Union obtained a copy of his complaint against Green, for whom he served as second-in-command.

The remaining three complaints and the identity of the accusers remain confidential while attorneys in the city's Office of General Counsel investigate the allegations to determine if they have merit. The contents of one of those still-secret complaints have been described to me repeatedly by those with knowledge of them as particularly serious and troubling beyond what appears in MacFarlane's complaint, though I have yet to confirm any specific details contained within it.
