Navy Worker Too Quick to Sue on New Claim Spotted by EEOC Judge - Bloomberg Law

A Navy employee who was found by an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission judge to have a job retaliation claim separate from the allegations included in her internal bias charge must administratively exhaust that claim with the Navy before suing in court, the D.C. Circuit ruled Tuesday.

It cited the federal employment provisions of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which make “clear” that a federal worker is required to present discrimination and retaliation charges or complaints to her employing agency prior to pressing them in court.
