Nike Trimming Corporate Workforce in September, Part of "Realignment" - Samfiru Tumarkin LLP

What’s Happening at Nike?

Nike is eliminating less than 1% of its corporate workforce as part of a “realignment.”

“The moves we’re making are about setting ourselves up to win and create the next great chapter for Nike,” the sportswear giant told CNBC.

“This new formation is built to put sport and sport culture back at the centre, to connect more deeply with the athlete and the consumer, and to give us the space to create what only Nike can.”

Nike claims that affected staff will be notified by Sept. 8. Corporate employees in Canada and the US have been ordered to work remotely next week to “make space for these conversations.”

According to LinkedIn, the company currently employs more than 1,700 people in the country.
