(NewsNation) — Claims that the Vatican may possess evidence of a decades-old UFO incident have circulated for years within UFO circles, but a NewsNation investigation found no evidence in Vatican archives to support one of the most frequently cited allegations.
The story gained renewed attention after former intelligence officer and UFO whistleblower David Grusch told NewsNation that the Catholic Church and the Vatican were aware of the existence of nonhuman intelligence and had knowledge of an alleged UFO crash that occurred in Magenta, Italy, during the 1930s.
“So let me be very clear about this,” NewsNation’s Ross Coulthart asked Grusch during an exclusive interview in 2023. “You’re saying that the Catholic Church, the Vatican, they know about the existence of nonhuman intelligence on this planet?”
“Certainly,” Grusch replied.
Investigating a UFO crash in Magenta
Following the interview, NewsNation launched its own investigation into the claims.
As part of that effort, NewsNation’s Susie Pinto traveled to Magenta, a town outside Milan, where UFO researchers have long alleged an unidentified craft crashed in 1933 and was subsequently recovered by the fascist government of Benito Mussolini. The alleged incident has become a cornerstone of theories suggesting that knowledge of nonhuman technology predates the famous 1947 Roswell case in the United States.
The search for corroboration, however, yielded little.
