Northern Kentucky coffee shop closes, cites vandalism and lawsuit - WKRC TV Cincinnati

NEWPORT, Ky. (WKRC) - A Northern Kentucky coffee shop is closing its doors for good.

Owner Rhys Watkins cited cases of vandalism, as well as an ongoing lawsuit, in a press release.

The release states that he is closing Flow Coffee's last location, which is in Newport, due to concerns for his family's safety and financial wellbeing.

Two more locations were opened in the Greater Cincinnati area, but later shut down.

Watkins says false statements were made about his business practices and published in a local media outlet.

He says this caused irreparable damage to his business and that he is suing the company that owns the outlet.

Watkins alleges this also led to a series of crimes committed against him, such as screws being driven into his tires

In addition, he claims a threatening message was graffitied onto the Newport building -- where he and his family work and live.

"The publication of these false claims has destroyed my personal life and financial stability," the press release reads. "I have lost countless friends and colleagues. My business and personal reputations have been ravaged."

In February, a Reddit user made a post about Flow Coffee.
