Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe is expanding its litigation team, adding the co-leader of Hughes Hubbard & Reed’s arbitration group weeks after the firm announced its merger with Washington boutique Buckley.
Longtime Hughes Hubbard lawyer Hagit Muriel Elul is joining Orrick as a partner in its international arbitration practice in New York.
She specializes in handling high-stakes cross-border litigation and international arbitration involving pharmaceuticals, intellectual property, energy and construction. Elul also represented Mission Media head Nicola Stephenson in a high-profile dispute related to the communications and marketing company’s sale to Troika Media Group.
Orrick’s focus on energy, infrastructure and life sciences sector dovetailed with Elul’s practice and “the opportunity to build on that was really appealing,” she said in an interview with Bloomberg Law.
“They focus on the client from a sector perspective and really provide a 360 degree solution to all their needs and commercial disputes is one part of this that,” said Elul, who is currently representing Singapore shipbuilding company in connection with a large infrastructure dispute.
