PTI Fact Check: Viral video falsely claims 'Amit Shah called Indian Army an Army of Hindutva' - Press Trust of India

New Delhi, November 3 (Kaushiki Goel / Pratyush Ranjan, PTI Fact Check): A video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah speaking at a public event is circulating on social media with dramatic claims about his remarks on the Indian Army. Several users allege he described the Army as belonging to Hindutva, the RSS, and a Hindu nation. The clip appears to show him urging those who disagree to leave for Pakistan, framing the forces as exclusive to one community.

However, the Press Trust of India’s Fact Check Desk investigated and found the claim to be false. The viral clip is a deepfake. The original footage is from Shah’s address in Munger, Bihar, and does not contain any of the statements attributed to him.

Claim:

A video featuring Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressing a public gathering was shared by a Facebook user, Annu Malik, on October 28, claiming that he said that the Indian Army is an army of Hindutva, the RSS, and a Hindu nation.

In the video, he can be heard saying, “I have been listening to the nonsense of the Congress and the AAP on social media, in which they repeatedly say that the Indian Army is being saffronised and our Army is now becoming a Party Army. I am saying this in front of the whole world with my 56-inch chest that the Indian Army is an Army of Hindutva.
