Responding to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's statements about her and her party, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said at a press conference that he should set his own house in order first before commenting on others.
She said that former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi had tried to defame the BSP many years ago and now his son Rahul was doing the same.
WHAT RAHUL GANDHI SAID
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Saturday that his party had offered to fight the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election in alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party and have party chief Mayawati as the chief ministerial face.
However, Mayawati did not even respond and gave the BJP a clear passage to victory in the state due to her fear of central agencies such as the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate, he said.
MAYAWATI'S RESPONSE
On Sunday, Mayawati rubbished Rahul Gandhi's claims and said there was no truth to them.
"Rajiv Gandhi tried to defame the BSP by saying that Kanshi Ram was a CIA agent. Now, his son is following in his footsteps and making false allegations that I am afraid of the BJP’s central agencies. There isn't even a trace of truth in this," she said.
She also dismissed Rahul Gandhi's statement that the Congress had offered to fight in alliance with the BSP but she had not responded.
